| Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilizer, containing 18% ammonium nitrogen and 46% phosphorus, can be used for all plants and as a base fertilizer in dryland areas. This fertilizer, which comes in dark gray or off-white granular form, contains three kilograms of phosphorus for every kilogram of nitrogen. Because more than 90% of the phosphorus it contains is water-soluble, plants can immediately benefit from the phosphorus and nitrogen it contains once the soil reaches the required moisture content. DAP is a fertilizer that can be successfully applied to all plants. However, to ensure effective fertilization, DAP should be applied in amounts sufficient to meet the plant's phosphorus needs. The remaining nitrogen needs of the same plant should be met by other nitrogenous fertilizers, such as ammonium nitrate. |
