Because it's generally white and resembles granulated sugar, it's also called "sugar fertilizer" by our farmers. It's used to meet plants' nitrogen needs. Its sulfur content also helps meet the plant's sulfur needs. Ammonium sulfate fertilizer doesn't wash away as easily as nitrate fertilizers, so it can be applied to many plants at planting time. It can be frequently used in rice and grain farming. It's a physiologically acidic fertilizer.
